An indiscernible happy thought was swirling around in my head “Take your time and enjoy what you’re doing” Definitely a God thought. I’ve always been in a hurry. Ever since I can remember, I was brought up to “hurry up.” I’m not sure why, but we did everything fast. We talked fast, walked fast cooked fast, ate fast, you name it we were doing it “fast.”
Slow is just not my thing. Which is exactly why the Lord gave me my husband. If you look up the word slow in the dictionary, well… it says “he’s just right for me.”
In this face paced world, it is not popular to slow down. Everything is real time and on demand. That is just not how God does things. Oh, he has his “suddenly” and his “now time” but it only seems that way. Those things have been cooking a long time.
“You know every step I will take before my journey even begins. You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me.”Psalm 139:4-5 TPT
Sure, you can go ahead and step out of God’s will and take matters into your own hands, the results may not be as lasting as they could be if it’s the right time. I remember a time when I stepped out too early on something I wanted to do. Yes! God gave me grace to do it, but it did stand the test of time. I think you know where I am going with this. God things take time because, well, he sees everything and we don’t.
God things matter for the kingdom today and beyond, so let’s not rush it. Cook it low (humble part) and slow (God’s Time.) One thing I have learned is when you are in hurry, it never comes out right.
Here are some ways you can enjoy where you are now while waiting for where you want to be xxoo Jackie
1. Make a list of what is good NOW
2. Make a list of NOW time scriptures to meditate on
3. Pray for insight and wisdom NOW
4. No complaining NOW! Negative thoughts and words make the time longer and unbearable
5. Keep facing forward and taking small steps toward your goals NOW
